PJ Morton

"Just stay true to what you believe. You have to believe before anyone else will"
New Orleans native PJ Morton has been loving music since the beginning of his existence and cannot remember a time when music was not around him. He attributes his musical element to his father Bishop Paul Morton Sr. Although music runs through his veins, it was when he heard the melodic sounds of Stevie Wonders “I never dreamed you’d leave in summer,” that made him want to pursue music all the way.
PJ Morton has won Grammy's, Stellar's and Dove awards for his songs and production, he is an around artist; he plays, writes, produces, sings and gives a great performance. When he is not performing or writing he enjoys listening to the Beatles, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder and some of today’s current music. His eclectic taste in music allows for him to reciprocate the same in the songs he sings, writes and produces. When reflecting back on the many songs he has written and produced the song "two hearts" is his favorite. Under normal circumstances "I would never have come up with the song," as everything surrounding the song is different; the feel, the tempo, the concept, everything."
PJ Morton's first desire is to please God in everything he does. His gift of music allows him the ability to touch people through song, as we all “relate through song.” When conceptualizing a song his goal is to be honest and give the listeners a real story. We all can relate to someone who is talking about love and life as these are the “things, we as humans go through.” Yet, with this great gift of expression through song, PJ had more inside that he had to share. This however, could not be told in a 3-4min song, but it had to be told. Therefore, PJ Morton decided to write a book, entitle “Why can’t I sing about love,” which, he is trying to open the eyes of the people “to realize how big God is.” The book “WhyCan’t I Sing about Love" deals with the age-old argument of sacred vs. non-sacred music. Many of the doctrines we as Christians are taught have been man-made and not Biblically based. A number of writers, producers, artists, and musicians have been shunned from the church for doing music outside of gospel. This book will show that love songs are not only inspired by God, but are in fact Biblical!"
PJ Morton has been busy at work as he is also currently working on his new album set to release on Feb 9th 2010. You can get updates for the new cd on his website http://www.pjmortononline.com/.
PJ Morton is a "true artist, who puts his everything into the music he creates" and it is truly great music. With every thought and every concept, for PJ music his therapy, as it allows him to "get things off his chest, heal and just the ability to express himself." Before he can pass his music along to the masses he has to enjoy his music first. This passion for what he does reciprocates into good music for our mind, body and soul as it is truly therapy.
